Turret Tooling
Special tools are available as Drawing & Instruction Sets and Kits to take advantage of the tailstock
turret's versatility. Drawing Sets contain drawings, step-by-step construction instructions, set-up, and
operation tips. Kits contain enough metal and hardware to fabricate one or two complete tools.
5/8" Dia. Shank Tooling:
This tooling, with 5/8" shanks, will fit any brand of tailstock or bed turret as well as all Downriver Tools
tailstock turrets. They are ideally suited to fabricate parts with an average maximum size of 3/8" diameter.
Centering and Facing Tool A combination tool used to face the end of a work piece to length
and to spot-drill for subsequent drilling and tapping operations.
Pointing & Box Tool Can be configured to face the end of a work piece to length and bevel the
leading edge for subsequent turning or threading operations. It can also be reconfigured as a box tool for
finish turning. This is a different design than our stand-alone Box Tool. Each tool will find a use in your shop.
Box Tool Primarily used for finish turning, the "King" of turret tooling is extremely versatile.
Balance Tool Utilizing the same design concept as the Box Tool but with two cutter blades, it
removes material twice as fast. Considered a roughing tool, it is ideally suited to reducing shank
diameters prior to threading.
2-in-1 Threading Tools Includes a Tapping Tool and a Die Threading Tool in a simple, plain-
shank version and a spring-return version. Both versions can be set for manual or automatic self-releasing
operation. These tools are an ideal project for a beginner to intermediate machinist.

2-in-1 Adjustable Tool Holders Two versions permit exact centering of drills, counterbores and
countersinks. They can also be set for reaming. These tools are an ideal project for the beginner
machinist.
1/2" Dia. Shank Tooling:
This tooling, with 1/2" shanks, will fit clock and instrument-type lathes with tailstock or bed turrets such as
Levin. They are ideally suited to fabricate parts with an average maximum size of 1/4" diameter.
