About Our Business
On the lower reaches of the Detroit River, in Southeastern Michigan, Downriver has a rich
industrial heritage. Starting with iron and steel making, then ship building, then chemical and
automobile manufacturing, a large chapter in the history of the Industrial Age was written in the
Downriver Area. Today that heritage continues with the introduction of Downriver Tools.
It all started when the owner needed hundreds of special screws for his model paddle wheel
steam engine. Needing a tailstock turret, he found nothing available for his lathe. Not one to be
defeated, he set out to design and build his own. The device needed to be simple, inexpensive,
and able to be machined on a table-top mill. The result was so successful that he wanted to
share the design with others. Thus, Downriver Tools was born.
Testimonials
Bob,
I received all the drawings and have now had a chance to read everything....
The instruction documents just really are the icing on the cake for your package, and add huge value to your product. I liked that you took the time to lay out the document professionally, that you used color in the drawings, and that you gave some history of how these products were and are used in industry. As good as the drawings are, adding the instructional notes really rounds out your offering. Now that I've seen the product, I know I would pay more for future offerings because of the quality....
